Basile De Loose ( 1809-1885) was a Belgian painter of genre scenes, interiors and portrets. He started his artistic education under the tutorship of his father Jan-Jozef De Loose and continued his studies afterwards at the Antwerp Academy. He resided in Paris in 1835 and later on in Brussels. The incoming natural light, the atmosphere, the slight dusty environment and narrative details are playing a very significant role in De Loose's oeuvre.
