Hugo Ungewitter was a German animal and hunting scenes/landscape painter whose special talent consisted in the realistic depiction of horses, dogs and horsemen. From 1887 he attended the Royal Prussian Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, where he was a pupil of Peter Janssen from 1894-1897.
